LGfL Wins Supplier of the Year: Not for Profit 2020

During these difficult times, we are pleased to share some recent good news at LGfL. We are celebrating having won Supplier of  the Year: Not for Profit in the Education Resources Awards (ERA) for the second year running. The judges selected LGfL as the winner in recognition of its social mission to advance education through digital innovation and its delivery of circa £9M in savings and benefits to schools per annum.

Some of you may be unfamiliar with The Education Resources Awards; they are organised by The British Suppliers Association (BESA) and Brilliant Marketing Solutions and are recognised throughout the education sector as an accolade of excellence.

This year’s awards ceremony was streamed online for all finalists and winners to enjoy their achievements safely and responsibly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, to winning the Supplier of the Year: Not for Profit category, we were also delighted to have been finalists in two other categories.

Category: Primary Resource or Equipment - Inc. ICT; Fossils and Dinosaurs

Fossils and Dinosaurs transports learners back in time to help them understand this complex topic, using the latest developments in technology to enable this period of history to come to life. The resource is broken down into topics to help teach this fascinating subject that explains our appearance and dominance on our planet as well as the impact and threat to its very existence as we consume fossil fuels left behind by the incredible story of life on Earth.

What is a Dinosaur?

Fossils and Dinosaurs is a blend of expert video, still images, teacher plans, Augmented and Virtual reality. Working with the curator of  the fossil collections at the Museum of Manchester, Dr David Gelsthorpe, we have chosen a selection of fossils and other specimens that help tell the story.

The new Prevent CPD counter-extremism resource for school staff was developed in collaboration with DfE, Home Office, DSLs and experts in extremism and vulnerability. Together with short CPD videos, discussion starters, case studies and resources for primaries and secondaries, counterextremism.lgfl.net provides additional insight into the far-right threat and practical approaches to implement the Prevent duty as part of a whole school approach.

Below are a selection of some of the videos included in the resource:

If extremism is opposition to British values, how do we address this?

What is the role of social media and gaming?

Why schools should never ignore a concern?

Commenting on the award win, John Jackson, CEO, LGfL, said, “We are thrilled to be recognised for LGfL’s role as a digital leader in transforming teaching and learning. During this difficult period, we are working tirelessly to provide schools with all the resources, connectivity and support required to deliver the best education possible.”
