J2e - Workload, Assessment, and Safeguarding

Written by Belinda Evans | Apr 24, 2026 7:30:00 AM

Differentiation shouldn’t mean double the workload. We know the challenge of managing diverse SEND requirements while keeping the whole class on track. In this post, we explore how J2e levels the playing field with accessibility tools that aren't "extras," but are built right into the heart of the platform.

Find out how J2e supports a more equitable classroom through:

✔️Built-In Accessibility

✔️Evidencing Pupil Work

✔️Practical Online Safety

Primary teachers aren't just educators; they are multitaskers. Between managing diverse SEN requirements, prepping for effective inclusion and creative lesson planning, and maintaining strict safeguarding, the workload is relentless.

Because J2e was built by teachers, it supports a classroom of varying needs. J2e makes differentiation simple with built-in tools like audio instructions and visual word banks. It allows every child to succeed, whether they are writing, drawing, or recording their voice.

When it’s time to show progress, J2e automatically builds a digital portfolio for every student.

Students can collaborate and share work safely. Every comment is moderated, and every action is logged, giving you total control and peace of mind.

 ✔️Built-In Accessibility

J2e was created by former teachers who knew that differentiation should be at the heart of the tool.

The problem with separate SEND software is that it can accidentally isolate pupils. When a child has to log into a different platform than their peers, it highlights their struggles.

J2e changes this by building in accessibility. Every child uses the same tools, but the support adapts to them.

J2e helps pupils access the curriculum independently:

  • Audio Instructions:  You can record audio instructions directly onto any digital worksheet. Pupils with lower reading ages simply click and listen, allowing them to start the task alongside their peers.
  • Voice-to-Text: For students who have brilliant ideas but struggle with the fine motor skills of typing or writing, voice-to-text removes the barrier. Their thoughts go straight onto the page, building their confidence
  • A "Clean" Canvas:  The J2e interface is intentionally uncluttered, reducing the cognitive load for neurodivergent pupils who may find busy screens overwhelming.

When accessibility is built in, the teacher’s workload decreases. Enabling the tools that are already available creates a more equitable classroom where SEN pupils can access the same high-quality curriculum as their peers independently.

 ✔️  Evidencing Pupil Work

Showing evidence of pupil work isn't just about "checking a box".

If asked for pupil evidence, you want to be able to point to a student's screen and say, "Here is the evidence of them doing exactly what we planned for them to learn," instead of hunting through folders, USBs, and different apps.

J2review makes formative assessment easy by using any progression framework and enables you, as teachers, to give informative feedback quickly and effectively. It provides a real-time overview of how much evidence you have collected for each pupil and which parts of the framework they have covered, so you can quickly identify gaps in their learning.

J2review turns "searching for work" into "showing progress."

A subject leader can filter the entire school's work by subject, year group, or specific National Curriculum objective, and so can easily see what is being taught across their subject area.

A finished project is great, but the actual process is where the real learning happens.

In J2review, evidence (such as screenshots, audio notes, or drafts) is available to provide a full picture of the child's learning journey. When a pupil can look back at their digital portfolio and see what they made in the past, it builds pride, and they understand their own growth.

 ✔️Practical Online Safety

We don't just tell children to stay safe online; we give them a safe place to practice. J2e gives pupils the skills they need for the real world, without the risks.  This is the shift from protecting children to empowering them.

J2e replaces "don't touch" with "safe to explore." Instead of blocking the internet entirely, it creates a secure, private version where children can learn by doing (without the risks).

Why it’s better for the classroom:
  • When children search for images, they only see results that are safe for their age and legal to use. No "accidental" shocks.
  • Children can practice "blogging" or "sharing," but nothing goes live until a teacher clicks Approve. It’s a safe space to make mistakes.

Safe Video Sharing:

Traditional video platforms aren't always suitable for the classroom; J2E allows you to upload videos directly. When you share a video in J2e, there are no "Up Next" sidebars suggesting inappropriate content. The focus stays entirely on the lesson.

Teachers can upload and share educational content directly with their pupils. A safe, secure way to deliver video learning, and students can share their own video projects with parents through the secure Parent Portal!
