The team at Busy Things is celebrating a major milestone following the announcement of the Bett Awards 2026, where they took home the prestigious trophy for Primary Digital Learning Product – Wider Curriculum

BETT-key-015

The award recognises Busy Things ‘long-standing commitment to developing high-quality, curriculum-aligned digital resources that support both teaching and learning across the entire primary spectrum.’

Busy Things is LGfL's most heavily used resource, with over 1 million page views per month.

It is a wonderfully quirky online educational resource, featuring hundreds of award-winning curriculum-linked games, activities and downloadable resources. It’s easy to see why Busy Things is the most popular resource on LGfL and why it recently won this award at Bett. It is far more than just a collection of tools; it is a delightfully eccentric platform packed with hundreds of accredited, curriculum-aligned games and printable materials.

The platform is masterfully designed to capture young learners' attention. By blending high-quality animation and bold visuals with a signature sense of humour and "wacky" sound effects, it keeps students consistently engaged.

Behind the fun lies a serious commitment to pedagogy. Every activity is meticulously mapped to the national curriculum, ensuring that each game supports specific learning opportunities across all primary stages.

This year’s victory at Bett was particularly notable for the strength of the judges’ endorsement. In a highly competitive field of global EdTech providers, every single judge selected Busy Things as the category winner.

Beyond the high levels of pupil engagement for which the platform is widely known, the panel praised Busy Things for:

  • Setting the Standard: Establishing a benchmark for curriculum-aligned digital content.
  • Holistic Design: Excellence in safety, innovation, and inclusivity.
  • Budget-Friendly Excellence: Providing "excellent value for money", a critical factor for schools navigating complex classroom needs and financial pressures.

What about Creativity?

In this discussion below, Busy Things and LGfL explore how creativity serves as the primary driver.

Rather than treating "being creative" as a secondary thought or a reward for finishing work, the platform has been built from the ground up (starting with art and music) to ensure that imaginative thinking is embedded in every digital interaction.

By prioritising open-ended activities with no strict "right or wrong" answers, Busy Things fosters a safe 66environment for experimentation.

If you are an LGfL school, you already have access to the full Busy Things platform as part of your subscription, which of course encompasses the LGfL mission to ‘save more than you spend’

What's new?

The biggest change to Busy Things recently is the complete redesign of the Welcome Page and Teacher Hub. The goal was to make the platform feel less "busy" for adults while keeping it fun for kids. Now you can access (as well as so much more) -

  • A.I. Lesson Planner: Teachers can now generate lesson plans and activities instantly using a new integrated AI tool.
  • Teacher Hub: A centralised "command centre" that houses all admin tools, pupil data, and the new "Convert activity to printable" tool.
  • Customisation: You can now add your school logo, hide specific tiles you don't use, and choose "low-stimulus" monochrome backgrounds for students who find the standard vibrant themes distracting.

REMEMBER: Teacher tools are only accessible with a teacher login. Any queries about the logging in process, please contact LGfL’s learning consultants at enquiries@lgfl.net or see our migration advice.

What's in Busy Things for February and March?

Busy Things continues to update its "Calendar Events" monthly. Current highlights for February and March 2026 include:

  • Chinese New Year: A "Year of the Horse" activity pack featuring 8 new ways to learn about the festival.
  • Ramadan (Feb 17 – March 18): New activities and resources to help students understand the significance of the month.
  • Children’s Mental Health Week: Expanded and updated Wellbeing resources were released earlier this month.

Beyond the Screen

There is a common misconception that educational technology is a solitary experience,  a single student sitting passively in front of a screen. But is digital learning really just a "one-on-one" activity?

The true beauty of a platform like Busy Things lies in its total flexibility. It is a diverse tool that fits the unique rhythm of your classroom. Whether it’s an engaging whole-class activity on an interactive whiteboard, a shared challenge on a handful of tablets, or a focused independent session, the platform adapts to your needs.

From group input to pair-work and individual exploration, Busy Things bridges the gap between digital interaction and human collaboration. It isn’t just about the software; it’s about how you choose to bring your students together.
